Bright light city going to set my soul, going to set my soul on fire.
Well, that's probably a little hyperbolic. But I have been noticing particularly bright lights emanating from the Vegas Welcome Buffet sign at the corner of Waco Drive and Valley Mills, so much so that I assumed we let the opening of Vegas Welcome Buffet slip past us. Not the case, though. Vegas Welcome Buffet opens on Tuesday.
Mike Copeland reported this morning at the Waco Trib that SCC Development is getting close to closing on the purchase of the former site of Richard Karr Motors at the corner of Valley Mills and Lake Air Dr., where they will build a 25,000 square foot shopping center. According to Copeland, they are negotiating with In-N-Out Burgers, Inc. to open a location in the space, but they are not ready to announce other prospective tenants of the shopping center.
[ "How 'bout" is the logical next step to our tagline, "Where you wanna eat?" ]
Kitok is a legend among Wacoans. It’s blend of traditional American food and authentic Asian cuisine makes Kitok a truly unique place to visit and a fun place for eats.
Well known for its Oriental fries, Kitok pairs such a unique side with a strong diversity of burger options that have attracted attention from all across the state of Texas. The service too is something to smile about, as we have noted in the past, and the price of their menu is just right.
Last Friday, I shared a strawberry cream cake that I had purchased at Cafe Sironia with some good friends during a visit to my favorite local coffee shop and, as I cut into its deliciously balanced strawberry and vanilla flavors, random strangers began to approach me, asking where they could get their own creamy strawberry cake.
It was an interesting experience, I had originally brought the cake to share with my friends over some homework, but as the day went on, I had more and more people that I didn’t know asking if they could try it. Their remarks caught me by surprise.
Cafe Homestead continues to innovate, looking for new ways to give its patrons unique dining experiences.
For the next event, they're truly thinking outside of the box, the box in this case being the actual walls of the Cafe Homestead restaurant.
[ "How 'bout …" is the logical extension of our tagline "Where you wanna eat?" Because we've all been there when someone says "Where you wanna eat?" and then everyone stands around a little awkwardly until someone cautiously offers up "How 'bout …" and then the name of a restaurant. It's also a way for us to highlight the restaurants that we want to highlight. ]
Captain Billy Whizzbang's burgers are made from fresh, never-frozen ground beef, mixed with their special recipe of seasonings that has been passed down for decades and pressed out fresh every morning. That is what makes their burgers great. They are made the same way every time you order.
The secret menu is real.
An abundance of articles can be found floating around the Internet claiming (insert favorite restaurant here) has a secret menu. Since everything you read on the World Wide Web should be approached with suspicion, one often wonders if any of this secret menu talk is real. Wanting to know the truth, I decided to visit some of the most popular places in Waco to see if a regular customer could really order something as crazy sounding as a “Quesarito,” and I was not disappointed.
Ok, WacoFork friends, we want to know what you think.
We're planning a "Bucket List" promotion and want to sort of democratize the process. (I wrote "sort of" because we're going to make the final decision based on what we think will work the best, but we're open to the suggestion of good ideas.)
We have early word that Rusty Taco is aiming for an early-May opening of its Valley Mills Drive location.
I received an email from Rusty Taco operations manager Casey Hawthorne saying they have a meeting later this week to hammer out further details. When we have them, so will you.
Steakburger fans unite.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has plans to open in early June on Hewitt Drive, according to Freddy’s spokesperson Lexie Pearce. The newest restaurant in the “50’s-inspired” chain will open at the corner of Mars Drive and Hewitt Drive, where Freddy’s currently has a large “coming soon” banner posted out front.
