As announced at the 4x200 Celebration on Saturday and on the blog yesterday, Monike Garabieta claimed the sweepstakes grand prize, taking home the iPad2 from the party at Poppa Rollo's
But she wasn't the only winner. Far from it. We had an outstanding group of door prizes, which made for some happy partygoers.
Here's the list of restaurants who gave door prizes and the diners who walked away with them.
Just a quick update before I head out to Friday night happy hour and a movie on a fine June evening in our fine town.
The 4x200 Celebration door prizes continue to roll in as we've added items from the The Olive Branch, Cafe Homestead, Tony DeMaria's and Cafe Viejo San Juan.
So far, we've had 71 of you tell us you're coming to our party on Saturday, June 18 at Poppa Rollo's. We can fit 150 into the room, so we're almost half way to sold out. Go to our event site and claim your free ticket. Remember we'll have pizza, T-shirts until we run out, we're going to announce the winner of the iPad2 and we're getting more door prizes every day. So everybody is going to be a winner one way or another.
We announced on Tuesday that we want you to come to our party, eat pizza and win prizes.
We meant it and to that end, we're starting to gather a cornucopia of door prizes (that's the first time I've ever written the word cornucopia in a sentence; I had to look up how to spell it).
So far we have door prizes from Oso's Oh So Good Yogurt, Captain Billy Whizzbang's, Uncle Dan's, Salty Dog and Uncorked — all of which will make a nice bonus for your entertainment budget. Remember we'll also be announcing the winner of the iPad2 and we'll have brand spanking new WacoFork T-shirts.
All you have to do is let us know you're coming by claiming a free ticket here.
We don't need to have a reason to have a party — we'll haul off and throw one for things like basketball games or a television star leaving his program. But as it happens we have several good reasons to throw a party this month.
So we're having a party — the WacoFork 4x200 Celebration — on June 18 at Poppa Rollo's Pizza. Because we're so close to reaching our 4x200 goals and we're confident we'll get there by party time. Because we're giving away an iPad2. Because we recently ordered T-shirts. But mostly because we want to hang out with you, our friends.
It's been a couple of weeks since we last updated our 4x200 Sweepstakes numbers and we definitely want to keep you in the loop.
Since the last update, we've continued to see steady growth — including blowing past 200 reviews — and as of Wednesday morning, we're up to 131 registered users, 181 Twitter followers, 150 "likes" on Facebook and 216 approved reviews of 95 different restaurants.
Remember we're giving away an iPad2 when we hit 200 in all four of those categories. One down, three to go. Here's the sweepstakes official rules.
Keep writing those reviews so that everyone can benefit from your dining expertise, but also so you'll have more chances to win the iPad2. If your friends haven't signed up as users, give them a little nudge so we can hit that 200 mark.
Chilli's chips, salsa and queso. Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay biscuits. Cheddar's Monster Cookie.
This is really all I need to write to defend Waco's assortment of chain restaurants. If at least one of those items — and more likely all three — didn't make you want to change this evening's agenda to include a trip to one of those chain restaurants, then there's nothing I can do to convince you. You have different taste buds than me and perhaps anyone I know.
This is going to be a short blog because it's an awesome day outside and it might be completely necessary to go to the golf course and once the sun goes down there's important television to be watched while eating good Waco pizza.
So quickly, we had a fun time at lunch at the first ever WacoFork meet for lunch thing. We need a better name for it. Suggestions? Whatever you call it, we had representatives from all over town, including Wacoboard, KCEN, Curves, MCC and Spenco as we met up at Captain Billy Whizzbang's. Good burgers and nobody threw a drink in anyone else's face, which is always my barometer for whether or not everyone had fun. So everyone had fun. We'll do it again soon.
Now for the weekly blog update of the 4x200 Sweepstakes. We're at 104 registered users, 146 Twitter followers, 119 "likes" on Facebook and 157 reviews. Remember, when we reach 200 of each, we're giving away an iPad2.
And now I have to go buy pizza for tonight's television watching and tomorrow's blog. Tonight, I'm going to hunker down for Steve Carell's final episode on "The Office" along with "Parks and Recreation," while intermittently watching the NFL Draft and Mavericks vs. Blazers Game 6 in the other room. I think I'm going to have to buy another television. I'll write about all of that — but especially the pizza — tomorrow.
Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who is making our first few weeks here at WacoFork a lot of fun. That includes everyone who has signed up as a user, followed us on Twitter, "liked" us on Facebook and written reviews.
And to that point, we also wanted to give you an update of where we stand on the road to giving away an iPad2 as part of the 4x200 Sweepstakes. As of about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, we had 75 users, 84 reviews, 116 Twitter followers and 85 Facebook "likes."
We're giving away an iPad2.
How's that for a quick, punchy lead? Do I have your attention? Well, then I succeeded. Now for the backstory.
We've been so pleased by the response to WacoFork in the site's first few days that we wanted to say thank you, so we're announcing our big 4x200 iPad2 giveaway.
