Seriously, any news or invitation better than that would have to be delivered by phone call or in person. So that's as good as it's going to get. What's the proper response?
"Yep."
"Sounds good."
"Heck yeah!"
"I'm in."
Why do we go to happy hour?
Because it's been a good day.
There's something to celebrate.
As a pregame to a movie or party.
Because it's been a bad day.
There's something to vent about.
There's something that needs to be forgotten — at least for a little while.
It's been a boring day.
You need a pick-me-up.
You need something to look forward to in order to survive the last little bit of the work day.
Friends have come from out of town and want to meet up.
Or, maybe the best reason, you've heard that this place or that place has excellent happy hour specials.
Personally, I've come to appreciate several happy hours around town — the nacho car at Chuy's, half price appetizers at Elite, $1.25 beer plus chips and salsa at Ninfa's, etc. I'm sure there are many more that are just as good.
