One More Bite

The WacoFork Blog

Not sure what this says about me as a person, but whenever I'm having a truly fantastic week, I feel a small twinge of dread that the fun will soon be over and the hangover will be unmerciful. Does that make me paranoid or an awful cynic or does everyone feel that way sometimes?

I suppose I should explain why it's a great week. It's Halloween, duh. But it's also the red-hot middle of football season. The weather has settled down (I'll take a little rain as long as we know 100-degree days are behind us for a while). However, the main reason I'm floating on Cloud 9 this week is that my friend Becky Murphy's book "I'd Rather be Short" was released on Tuesday. I attended the book release and signing at BookPeople in Austin on Tuesday night, and I attended the after party at The Tiniest Bar in Texas and the after-after party at Taco Cabana.

I think I might have overdone it last week by giving away so many of the Smashburger Preview spots in one fell swoop.

Now there are precious few remaining.

My friends Tye Barrett, Cory Webb and I grabbed some pizza from Papa John's and talked about Big 12 football. We mention in the video that we think if Baylor scores 60 or more points, then you can get 50 percent off a Papa John's order. As it turns out, any Baylor football win will apparently get you half off. Anyway, enjoy this video blog.

Here's the 17th and final installment of summer Tuesday Trivia.

We've been tying trivia to new music releases since that happens on Tuesdays, so you would have some framework for my question's origin. Today's question is related to Bob Dylan's release of "Another Self Portrait."

Here's the 16th installment of Tuesday Trivia, which we'll be running all summer.

Here's the 15th installment of Tuesday Trivia, this time with living-color video. Mark "The Shark" Waldrop helped us out with the video and gave us a copy of The Digital Age's new album "EVENING:MORNING" to pass along to the winner.

The Digital Age is a local band with a national audience. Check out their website, thedigitalagemusic.com, and (if you don't win it) buy their new album, which dropped today.

Remember last summer when we joined with ChipperThings.com to throw a chess tournament? It was fun right? Well I want to give you an update on our friend and ChipperThings proprietor Becky Murphy.

She's in Austin now and she made me a salad for lunch on Saturday. She said she hoped for the salad to be a little more flavorful, but I didn't mind. She has no idea how much I need to mix in an uber-healthy salad every now and then. Or maybe she does.

Here's the 14th installment of Tuesday Trivia, which we'll be running all summer.

Here's the 13th installment of Tuesday Trivia, which we'll be running all summer.

We've been tying trivia to new music releases since that happens on Tuesdays, so you would have some framework for my question's origin. Today's question coincides with Vince Gill releasing a new album called "Bakersfield."
