Bangkok Royal
I come from Washington state, which has a plethora of amazing thai food. I'd put Bangkok Royal as "okay" thai food, but good considering what Waco has to offer. It's not bad overall, with average wonton soup (they don't offer a bowl though so it's not a meal in itself), amazing curry (SO good, any type), and average phad Thai. I find that people who aren't familiar with Thai food will go with phad Thai, but it's only "okay" here and thus gives a less-than-stellar first impression of this rather good restaurant.
Something I liked about the new George's in Hewitt: it's classier, cleaner, and easier to get a table at than the original George's. The only problem: I LIKE the dirtiness of the old George's. It does have a neat bar ("Big O Deck") though, which is more roomier and easier to maneuver than the old George's. Still good, greasy, unhealthy food as always.

I love Diamondback's Thursday happy hour of $4 select appetizers and $4 select drinks. The service is usually sub-par if you sit outside on the upper deck, but considering it's so cheap, it is not usually a huge problem. I have been twice during non-happy hour times, and felt like the food was average but overpriced. Would HIGHLY recommend happy hour, but I would not recommend regular hour times.

I have been to What About Cupcakes twice and both times, I was not really impressed. Although the cupcakes were tasty, I felt like I was paying for the fact that I was at an exclusively cupcake bakery instead of the quality of the cupcakes. They weren't as moist as I like my cupcakes, and didn't have inventive flavors (vanilla, chocolate, margarita, strawberry, peanut butter, and oreo...). I feel as if this is a good place to go if you need cupcakes ASAP, but if you're into savoring your sweets, you'd be better off making your own.

The Olive Branch
The Olive Branch is a pretty decent place to take friends to, or have meetings at (and to be honest, it's my favorite lunch place if I'm starving). The only major problem is that if you go during peak lunch hours (11:30-1:30ish), it's super busy, takes a long time to get your food, and they only have one little register. I will continue to go for many reasons (good food, good atmosphere, shout out to cute waiter Eric), but would not recommend going during the peak hours.

When I first moved to Texas, I couldn't understand why everyone I met told me I needed to go to the "Check Bakery." When I finally realized they meant the Czech Bakery, well, I had to czech it out. I've only bought kolaches (ah-maze-ing) and banana bread (better than homemade, I swear), but I've loved every bite of it.

I like Trojan's, but it always seems busy and crowded. If you show up around 9:30, you can easily get a table or seats at the bar, but if you go too much later, you'll be hard pressed to find seats. They at one point had a pretty awesome happy hour, but I'm not sure if they still continue it. They do have drink specials that are good and pretty reasonably priced on a daily basis.

I love the BU Starbucks! The only thing I don't like is there is a woman who worked T/Th mornings in the Spring 2011 semester and she made the worst foam ever; you'd pick up your drink and it wold be entirely too light. Other than that, the coffee is always good, and it's such a large Starbucks that there are plenty of places to sit. I would recommend bringing a sweater during the summertime though; the AC is always on blast!

Clay Pot
Clay Pot is not just a "normal" Vietnamese restaurant, it is a locally owned restaurant where the owner Jay actually cares about your experience. The food is made individually and by order, instead of mass-produced like other restaurants. The pho soup is amazing, the spring rolls are fantastic (and if you go on Tuesday, they're 2 for $0.99), and the fried rice is not tradition fried rice--its better! If it's your first time, I recommend getting something other than the clay pot; that's simply stir fry in a bowl of rice. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing, but there are so much more good food options! Also, the ambience of this restaurant is pretty awesome; you can sit on the floor on big pillows or at a regular table if preferred.
