I understand that when a new restaurant opens, there are growing pains. However, if you do not impress the early visitors, no one will come back. I decided to try out lunch and go early to beat the crowd. Of course, it did not take long for the place to fill up. Arrived at 11 AM, ordered around 11:15 AM, and did not receive our food until an hour later. To make things worse, when the food arrived, it was cold.
I may try again several months from now when things calm down but I hope they fix things soon.

Like the other reviewer, I found out about the Texas Cheese House from Wacoboard.com. The shop is very well kept but not very big so hopefully it never gets too busy or you will be standing while you eat. They offer a great variety of meals to enjoy many, many different kinds of cheeses. I went with the plain grilled cheese with cheddar. The sandwich was ok but not the best. Bread was even burned on one side.
They also offer lots of desserts and chocolates, along with great gift idea. There is also a lady who makes cakes and cookies and she seemed really nice. I would not go out of my way to eat there again but if you are ever in the Lorena area, give it a try.

Everyone gets excited when a new place opens up in Waco. However, when I saw that Newk's was another sandwich shop, I was not that excited.
I gave it a try anyways for lunch one day. They do have a nice selection of sandwiches and salads. I went with a basic turkey sandwich. When I went to pay for it, I almost choked! I am sorry but when you end paying 10 bucks or more for a meal, it better be good. And it wasn't! The bread was dried out and tasted a day old. Turkey was dry as well. And the portion size was not that great. I was still very hungry by the end of the meal.
Next time you crave a sandwich for lunch, try the place next door(Panera Bread) or even Subway to save money.

When it comes to all you can eat buffets, your first thought is the national chains like Golden Corral. However, if you are looking for better quality food, Raymond's is the place to go!
Located right on I-35 in Lorena, it is very easy to get to. Once inside, they have lots of space, which is great for meetings or family. The buffet is very simple with a salad bar, main entry, and desert. My favorite is the chicken fried steak! Dinner comes with homemade rolls and great service.
They only negative I have is the building. Raymond's has been around for a while so it not so new on the inside. However, those are usually the best places to eat!

Even though the commercials on the radio for Katie's are terrible, the frozen custard is great! It may not be as healthy as a frozen yogurt place but that is the point. Frozen custard has that smooth, creamy taste that you cannot get anywhere else. Katie's offers so many choices that everyone in the family will be happy. My favorite is the pumpkin pie, which is seasonal only in the fall.
The only negative is that it seems their prices have gone up over the past year or two. If they would offer more specials, I would visit more often.
Overall, great dessert place and popular hangout for Baylor folks.

George's is one of the best places to eat in Waco in my opinion! They offer a little of everything from salads, sandwiches, burgers, and more. The best meal on the menu is the chicken fried steak, hand down! And if you go during lunch, they have a smaller portion for a great price. The appetizers are great as well and highly recommend the Baylor Bites!
It can be pretty packed for dinner, especially being so close to Baylor. The bar is great as well and is always packed. I go more for the food, not the drinks.

Decided to try Chopsticks because it is the closest Chinese food place to my home. It is worth to drive a little farther. The inside of the restaurant was not that clean and the food looked like it had been sitting out for a while. The prices seemed expensive compared to what you were getting. The chicken was fatty and the egg rolls were dried out and over done.
Maybe other locations are better but if you are this side of town, it would be better to go down the road to other Chinese places.

Some of the best fried seafood can be found here! I feel the catfish is the best in town. Every time I get it, it is fresh and you get lots of it. They have a nice lunch menu and recommend going there then because it gets very crowded at night.
They are located right on the Brazos River and provide a great view, especially if you eat outside on the patio. I wish there were more places on the river!
If you are looking for something spicy, they have lots of Cajun dishes like Crawfish Etouffee. I am not a fan of spicy food but everyone who eats it with me, love it!
Service can be slow sometimes but that only gives you more time to enjoy the scenery of the Brazos. It is one of my favorite places to eat in Waco!

After hearing about 3 Spoons from so many of my friends, I caved and gave it a try. I was very impressed! The store is very clean and very simple to use. You grab your cup, pick your ice cream and toppings, then they weight and it you are done. Careful about what all you put in your cup because it can cost you the heavier it is. Overall, the price is still very reasonable, especially compared to other ice cream places in town that will remain nameless.
So believe the hype and give them a try! You will not regret it. My favorite combination...angel food yogurt with fresh strawberries, yogurt chips, and strawberry sauce. Mmmmm....

After hearing a lot about this place, decided to give it a try for dinner. One thing to keep in mind is out in China Spring, so kind of drive from the south side of Waco.
Once we arrived, I was shocked how small this place is. I counted 5 tables plus 2 outside. I guess they plan to make more money on take out then dining in. We went early so had no problem getting a table but by the time we left, they were all taken.
As for the food, it was really good and different. We tried the fried rice with chicken and shrimp, along with their imperial rolls. Everything was full of flavor and we enjoyed it. The only negative was everything seemed to have a fish taste to, but not strong enough to keep you from enjoying it. The presentation was great and everything was served on fine china! I know, that sounds weird since it is a Vietnamese place.
Service was great! Very friendly and answered all of our questions.
Overall, it is worth a try but I think next time we will get it to go.

What About Cupcakes? is one of my favorite, local food places. When my mom comes into town, she always wants to go there. Compared to other places in town, it is the right combination of sweet and fluff. It is a neat place to hang out and would love to see them add on drinks like coffee.

Finally stopped in for lunch and it was my first time to see the new dining area. All I can say is WOW! It was a hole in the wall before but still good. Now, it is amazing! Lots of room to hang out, a bar area, and outside seating. I highly recommend taking friends and family who are not from Waco to this place when they visit. The atmosphere is now just as good as the BBQ!

If you are looking for a nice sandwich place, then look no further than The Olive Branch! I usually get the Turkey BLT but tried the Chicken Salad the other day and it was great. It was my first visit to the new location in the Spice Village. Very laid back atmosphere and cozy. Lots of room so would be good for lunch meetings. Going back soon to try their famous cake balls!
