There's a lot going on at the moment when it comes to the Waco restaurant scene. Many of the goings on involve things that will be coming to town later this year or possibly even next year. But I want to direct your attention to something happening much sooner which you need to consider.
I mean like talk about it at work today and this weekend and next week. It's a chance to dine out at local restaurants and do something good for kids in our town.
Next week is Heart of Texas Restaurant Week benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters. It's easy, just go to a participating restaurant, order the Restaurant Week item and Big Brothers Big Sisters gets $2 of your check.
Restaurant Week has posted a list of participating restaurants and the items on its website. But, for your convenience, we will list them here too:
- Vitek's — sweet potato spud pack
- Wiseguys — pepperjackcheesesteak
- Cantina Texas — Texas shrimp and sausage with creamy grits OR chicken breast stuffed with chorizo and fancy cheeses OR old school mac n' cheese with mesquite smoked brisket OR buffalo fried chicken (all choices $15.95 and includejalapeño corn bread and house salad).

There has to be something on that list that you will dig. And if you're a good person, you will also dig the idea that you're supporting a fantastic mentoring program.
