It's difficult for me to write about Bangkok Royal simply because I feel like there are several issues to address that begin with the name of the restaurant.
Don't misunderstand me, it's perhaps my favorite restaurant name in town.
But maybe the fact that the name is a conversation in and of itself means that I should begin by writing about the name. So I will.
In the so-far established tradition of WacoFork, I'm embarking on another theme week.
You may remember, during the summer I treated myself, and some other WacoFork friends joined me, for Mexican food week and barbecue week. It was as simple as it sounds. I ate Mexican food, or barbecue, for at least one meal per day all week. Well, now I'm doing it again, only with a little better plan of action.
It's not just Asian food week, it's "The WacoFork tour of Asia in Waco." I'm awesome at titles.
Hey, Waco, let's just file this one in the category of any press is good press.
Last week, our city landed on Chow.com's list of "The 10 College Towns with the Worst Food."
It's a tough one to take, especially for me, since I pretty much base my self worth on websites like Chow.com's appraisal of things. However, in the interest of us all having some perspective on how much we suck, I'm going to continue writing about this woeful blemish.
Among several truths by which I strive to live life is this: watching sports on television, especially with friends, is ALWAYS a good idea.
I've never watched a game on TV and afterwards thought "What am I doing with my life?" And I've tested the boundaries. Believe me.
But in case you think spending Monday night watching Monday Night Football, or all day Saturday or Sunday watching college or NFL football, is a little bit of a waste of time, then let me put your mind at ease. As of this past weekend, The Dancing Bear Pub is giving you a way to watch football all season long and feel as though you are working toward an end goal.

This past Saturday morning I made my weekly visit to Taqueria El Crucero for breakfast only to be met with the bad news that they had been robbed the previous night. I went by Common Grounds and ran into Jake Patterson, another faithful Crucero-er, who suggested that in response to the thief's cowardly actions, we could do our part to refill Crucero’s coffers by eating there every day this week.
We've added two listing to our directory in the last six days. Both are called Bubba's and both are located on Hewitt Drive.
Confusing? Possibly.
Let me clarify. I added Uncle Bubba's Bistro, which can be found in the Cafes and Diners category, on Friday. Then just a little bit ago, I added Bubba's to the Burgers category.
In most ways, this past weekend rocked.
As stated, I ate some delicious stadium food in Lorena. We had a fun time at the WacoFork tailgate before Baylor stomped SFA. The Cowboys won. The Rangers won twice. And, maybe the best part, rain came in buckets.
But one piece of news stung me. As we were setting up for tailgate on Saturday, I heard our friends at Taqueria El Crucero arrived at their restaurant Saturday morning to find they had been broken into during the night.
I knew I was in for a treat when I walked up to the grill at Lorena Stadium on Friday night.
About 45 minutes before kickoff, a man who called himself Hervie (that's him in the picture) watched over burgers and the kind of sausage links that you could tell by looking weren't your average, run-of-the-mill links. He also took care to place his tortillas on the grill for just the right amount of time before pulling them off the grill, then wrapping a sausage in each one, and then wrapping that in foil so that it would stay warm until the concession stand opened.
If you've been following this blog this week, you'll know that I've been making an effort this week to eat a little healthier with the help of the McLennan County Publich Health District's Eat Well Waco project.
Have I been perfect? By no means.
Have I even been good? Debatable.
But have I been thinking about it and trying to be wiser? Yep.
