My husband and I had eaten here a couple times and everything was good. The LAST time we ate there we were seated at a booth and promptly ignored by every member of the waitstaff for 30 min or so. We finally gave up. Now we prefer the Hewitt location (Mama Baris)... same good food but much better service.

The most reasonable way to eat pizza at Double Dave's is to go for the buffet. All the goodies are there, but the salad bar is pretty limited. Ordering out can be quite expensive... a large specialty pizza is $19.50. I recommend the Dave's Fave with spinach on honey-wheat crust.

We had eaten at Chuy's in Dallas and I thought it was just OK. When I saw them building the Chuy's here my first thought was "Do we really need another Tex-Mex place in Waco?". However we have come to love Chuy's, especially after I found out about the Fish Tacos. I do wish they had some healthier options on the kid's menu.

Cheddar's is a great place to eat, but most people know that already... which is why it seems to be packed ALL THE TIME! If there are only two or three of us we generally try to snag a seat near the bar which is open seating and allows you to skip the list. However long though the wait is generally worth it. Appetizers are cheap and come out fast and the food is always hot and fresh. Portions are large enough to be split between two adults and the kids menu has a couple of options that are not fried with a side of fried.

Elite has a good selection of foods, especially appetizers, but we tend to avoid it because of how long the service can take. There is usually no wait for a table, even on the weekends, but once seated be prepared to be there a while. I do recommend the grilled veggie sandwich if you decide to brave it.

Since my daily commute takes me by the Rusty Star I have stopped for a quick lunch many times. They have the usual BBQ selections, but it is all very good and the price is very reasonable! However the jalapeno-potato salad is my favorite! If you make the trip you need to try it! I only gave it four stars because the table cloths alternate between Longhorns and Aggies and it hurts my delicate Bear pride.

Everyone in Waco is talking about the frozen yogurt here and it is the perfect spot for an after-dinner treat (if you don't mind waiting in a line that is out the door!). It is very good, but it is also easy to go WAY overboard! The yogurt and toppings (of which there are many choices of fresh fruits and various candies) are self serve and you pay by the ounce at the end. The key to getting out the door without paying $8 for a cup of deliciousness is self control.

This really is a great place for chinese food. I have only eaten here for lunch, but they have a great lunch menu and is very reasonably priced. The noodles are very good! You get a lot of food for your money as well. Ted Nugent loves this place and I have seen him eating here before.

Pei Wei is always a good choice when you are wanting a sit down meal that is made quickly. There are many options on the menu... we love the honey seared chicken, lo mein and lettuce wraps. My only criticism is that they will have specialty items from time to time that are not part of the regular menu. If you get hooked on it you will soon be out of luck.

and I come pretty close with a couple of times a week. Everything is always fresh and hot! The portions are huge, and I always have enough left over for a quick lunch the following day. Highly recommend!

Amelia's is a really fun little restaurant in the middle (literally the middle) of a great gift store. The menu is limited, but really i go for the quiche. They rotate the types of quiche they serve daily so I try to call ahead to see what is available. The only downside is the cost... it is pricey for a lunch spot but the quantity and quality of food you get for the money makes it all worth it!

The beef fajitas are the best in town! I also love the complementary salsas that come with your chips. I never leave Ninfa's without being totally stuffed full of great food!

Kitok's has a great hole-in-the-wall atmosphere but the seating is limited. The burgers are great and so is the bulgogi (really, try it!). However the best part of lunch are the oriental fries. Thinly sliced veggies fried tempura style make for shoestring fried heaven!

George's is very good, but don't expect to find anything healthy on the menu. Good comfort food though... excellent chicken fried steaks! The crazy wings are also quite tasty!

The food is very good, fast and well priced. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner before heading over to the movie theater. Taco Tuesday is typically crazy busy, but worth it!

We had eaten at Don Carlos twice after it opened its doors in Waco and had an OK dining experience each time. However, one night my husband grabbed take out for dinner for us when i was in the mood for beef tacos. When he got home and I opened the box I believed that they had filled the bottom of the box with enchilada sauce beneath my tacos. WRONG! It turned out to be grease! They were so foul tasting that we threw them out and went to Taco Bell instead! We do not eat here any more and we do not recommend it ever.

I don't know why this restaurant chain is always voted best fajitas or anything else in Waco. We have eaten at the Franklin Ave and Hewitt location a handful of times since moving to Waco four years ago and now only go there when invited by friends. The food is just OK... nothing to rave about. There are MUCH better fajitas to be had in Waco.
