Great Pancakes, Lousy Service

★★★ Reviewed by bureaukat on May 15, 2011

Cafe Cappuccino serves one of my favorite breakfasts in town. They're pecan pancakes are huge, cheap, and delicious. They also have good waffles, migas, and a couple of pretty good omelets. I usually compliment the pancakes or waffles with a side of home fries to balance.

However, the service is terrible. You're almost guaranteed a wait for a table if you go for breakfast, and you're lucky to see your waitress 3 times over the course of the meal. Your waitress is never the one who brings the food, so if you need anything (salsa or ketchup for instance) you won't get it for another 15-20 minutes. It really is a bummer, because I do enjoy their food.

Good food, rude manager

★ Reviewed by steph_kris on April 22, 2011

The food is good, but the woman who runs this place is rude and inhospitable. I refuse to go back to this location, and instead I take my business to the Cafe Cappuccino downtown.

Service is always bad. Will not go back. How they stay in business is beyond me.

no better

This was my first experience with Cafe Capp. Service was VERY VERY slow and not very friendly. Only went here once, I was hoping for a more positive outcome at the downtown location, but it was actually worse.

Don't let the name fool you.

Reviewed by Natpark1 on April 20, 2011

Cafe Cappuccino does serve up a nice breakfast/brunch however, do not let the name fool you into thinking that they are a coffee shop. While they do have an espresso bar and offer a variety of drinks the quality of the espresso based drinks is sub-par at best. I haven't tried any of the flavored "dessert" drinks so if you have a sweet tooth, those might be serviceable.

I did have an espresso which was served in an 8-12oz cappuccino or latte cup and had about 3oz or 4oz weak espresso and also had a coffee, which was better but I would still prefer to drink my coffee at home and then come for breakfast, or, god forbid, stop at Starbucks first.

I just don't understand how a place that named itself after an espresso based beverage doesn't seem to know how to properly prepare and serve a basic espresso.

All in all, I would go back for breakfast but would just get some OJ to drink.

Change managers or close it

★ Reviewed by revjangle on November 7, 2011

My last experience after going to this location for 10 years was my last. First the service was atrocious. Then my meal ( a waffle) came to the table 20 minutes late and only after I pointed it out to the server. The rest of my party was finished with their meal by the time I got my waffle.

I would have liked to eat with my party, especially since they were guests from out of town. I informed the staff and the manager came to make it worse. She offered the excuse that the kitchen was busy, and I offered her that making waffles does not take extra time and that this is a cafe and their job is to get orders out correctly and with the rest of the meal. She offered me 10% off the waffle which was an insult.

She was rude and obviously has no idea how to handle running a cafe or dealing with people.

I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT LOCATION AND LIKLEY WON'T RETURN TO THE DOWNTOWN LOCATION EITHER SINCE THEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE REPEATED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE MANAGER ON BOSQUE.

Somebody please open a good breakfast spot in Waco.

Favorite Breakfast Place

My wife and I go to Cafe Cap. almost every Saturday morning we're in town. All of their food is great, but I'm especially fond of their omelets. Plus, you get a huge pancake with your meal.
