Cafe Homestead reveals its Italian farm-to-table menu

For those who haven't noticed or experienced it first hand, Cafe Homestead's farm-to-table dinners have taken a place right at the top of our town's culinary treats.

Those who are in the know are, well, in the know. They will be excited to see that I have obtained a copy of the menu for the Cafe Homestead farm to table to be held March 17 at 6:30 p.m. The cost of the dinner will be $48 per person.

If you work hard all week and enjoy dining out, which I can only assume that you do if you're reading this blog, then the price tag on the farm to table dinner is a suitable reward for yourself and perhaps a privileged guest.

If you don't enjoy food made with careful attention to detail from fresh ingredients, then … I don't know, tune in for whatever I write about on Fried-day.

When I spoke to t manager Derek Varejcka today, he expressed special enthusiasm about the drink planned for the event, which is a Champanelle grape sparkler made from Champnelle grapes grown on the Homestead farm.

That's the jumping off point. Anybody excited yet?

For a starter, they will be serving Italian sausage and Romano cheese stuffed mushrooms.

Honestly, put me in front of a glass of Champanelle grape sparkler and that Italian treat and I'm going to be pretty happy. In fact, I could have that for a meal and be pleased as punch. Obviously, there's going to be a salad, main course and dessert to follow, but I'm just saying.

OK, enough of my commentary here's the rest of the menu:

Salad: fresh mixed baby greens topped with Brazos Valley marinated mozzarella cheese and candied pecans.

Main course: steak pizzaiola on a warm bed of creamy cheese polenta served with garlic sauteed broccolini and a warm Italian baguette.

Dessert: tiramisu mascarpone.

One more bite: I went into Wako Roll this morning and it's ready to roll out some sushi, in fact I wasn't certain they weren't already open. However, Park informed me they will be opening on Wednesday.
