News and notes: Club Sandwich could soon have wheels

Club Sandwich will soon be on the move and that could, if we're lucky, be a permanent condition come this summer.

I spoke with Club Sandwich proprietor Youngdae Moon earlier this week and he told me about new developments with his unique Asian food-sandwich shop cuisine. He's excited about a food truck being custom built for him that could be roaming our town as soon as the summer. Just three days ago, I weighed the possibility of a wider variety of food trucks in town and Youngdae's menu and food would be an excellent addition.

Currently, Club Sandwich operates out of the Waco Outreach Foundation community center at 4th Street and Jackson Avenue. On Thursday, the restaurant announced it will be open at that location through the end of next week and Youngdae has told me he could be moving to a different space within the community center.

More news as it becomes available.

Half cow + half pig = all good

The WacoFork wire — this is what I'm going to call it from now on when people either tweet, text, email or just tell me about things going on at local restaurants — alerted us to a contest currently happening at Captain Billy Whizzbang's.

This time, the text came from Cameron Weed, informing me that Whizzbang's wants customers to name their new burger, which is half ground beef and half ground bacon. I confirmed it on Whizzbang's Facebook page. There are two things you need to know about this contest.

1) The rules: order the new burger and eat it; name it; Whizzbang's will choose the best name and the submitter of that name will win a week of free burgers (or 6, whichever comes first).

2) The Ron Swanson has already been submitted.

Oso good to see you again

A trip to Oso's Oh So Good Yogurt this afternoon revealed that I wasn't the only one anxious to see them open again.

One customer jokingly, lovingly chided Jan and Staley about closing for the months of December and January. Still, it was easy to tell that the customer was happy to have access to her favorite froyo again.

At any rate, Oso's is back open and plans to remain so no matter the weather.
