An Oso good way to celebrate Columbus Day

What's the proper way to celebrate Columbus Day? Is not getting mail or going to the bank enough? Or is there a certain type of food a person should eat?

I considered Italian food and then perhaps Indian food, but ultimately skipped the whole thing and made good on a couple of WacoFork prizes.

A couple of weeks ago, I offered gift cards to Freebirds and the Taqueria El Crucero Truck @ Common Grounds to the first person to write reviews of each. WacoFork enthusiast Wade Mackey jumped at the chance and claimed both prizes.

So Mackey and I chowed down on Oso burritos for lunch.

Mackey, a longtime promoter of the Crucero Oso burrito, changed things up a bit today. He asked for pastor meat in his burrito rather than the usual pork. As it turned out, our burritos were switched, so I enjoyed the first few bites of pastor Oso. It was delicious, but I showed the self-restraint to admit the mix up and switch with him.

For those who haven't tried either El Crucero or the Crucero Taco Truck @ Common Grounds, you should. They're an oustanding credit to our local Mexican food scene.
