More grist from the rumor mill

Thank you, dear readers, for dishing out so much new foodie gossip that we have to do a follow-up blog.  Our little #wacotown is growing up to be delicious!

A GOOD SIGN: Saltgrass at Legend’s Crossing
They are now hiring a manager in Waco, which hints that this is a done deal.

A LITTLE MORE INFO: Whole Foods at Legend’s Crossing
Word on the street is that our beloved Whole Foods is creating a “new store footprint” for Waco and College Station locations. Does this mean it might be of more modest size? YES. Am I still over the moon? YES.

MI CASITA
We’ve been informed that the Denton, Texas chain is opening a location on Hewitt Drive. “1520 Hewitt Drive, Suite B to be exact.” They offer dine-in and drive-through service, and the food is very reasonably priced. Check out their website here.

AU BON PAIN CAFÉ BAKERY
This goes out to our Baylor readers. The Boston-based, French-inspired café will join Starbucks in the library lobby. For those of you who need more fuel than caffeine, you’ll be able to grab sandwiches, salads, soups, and pasta on your way to the stacks.

TEA2GO
Is going up “next to Papa Johns, behind Whataburger, across from Baylor.” Their business model is pretty self-explanatory: they make healthy and delicious tea, and you take it to go.

DICKEY’S BBQ PIT
Back for round two! Formerly located in the Schlotzsky’s building, Dickey’s BBQ signs have been spotted in the Chili’s/Hobby Lobby shopping center at the intersection of Bosque and Valley Mills. Specifically, “in the corner location down from Drug Emporium near Bosque.” I seem to remember that Dickey’s is very fond of free sandwich coupons, so keep your eyes peeled for grand opening giveaways.

Shameless Speculation…

There is salon chair gossip about a Costco location. Info, anyone?

I shed a few almost-tears when the City voted down the plan to develop the riverfront around McLane Stadium. Not least because The Fork staff had heard rumors of several eatery flagships: Trader Joes, Pappadeaux, and Cheesecake Factory to name a few. Any rumors of these places building elsewhere in Waco? Shall we all email their corporate offices and pledge our undying loyalty? (I’m looking at you, Trader Joes.)
