Monday Recon: another food truck sighting

Last week we told you about the new Greek food truck, Xristo's Cafe, on University Parks. Turns out these things come in pairs, apparently.

As soon as I published that article, someone told me about the new truck What About Wednesdays on Franklin Ave near the intersection at 8th Street. I stopped by early this afternoon to get the scoop on it.

What About Wednesdays, formerly the restaurant inside the clubhouse at Lake Waco Country Club, is serving sandwiches, burgers, wraps and salads out of the truck for now. Owner Juan Villareal is also in the process of renovating a brick-and-mortar location at that same corner. When the restaurant opens inside the building, the truck will become a rover.

Villareal said What About Wednesdays will deliver anywhere downtown without a delivery fee. There is also covered outdoor seating in the cubbyhole they occupy. It's open from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What's up with Which Wich?

A good WacoFork friend noticed Which Wich was closed and partially boarded up on Friday. Not to worry though, it's not going anywhere.

A Which Wich employee told me a window was broken and they were forced to close for a couple of days for safety purposes, but the new glass is on the way and it's business as usual.

Austin resurrection

WacoFork writer Dustin Payne noticed over the weekend the bar formerly known as Austin's On The Avenue and then Metro has paper signs on the windows that read "Austin's." Payne is on the case and we'll let you know more when we have it.
