Freebirds offering sneak previews to benefit community groups

We reported last week that Freebirds will open on September 10 and that's still the case. We're going to have plenty of coverage of the hoopla over the weekend. By the way, for those who haven't already searched it out, Freebirds is located in the New Road shopping center between Waco Drive and Franklin Avenue.

In addition, we also want to let everyone know that there will be a couple of opportunities the next two days to get a Freebirds in Waco preview. Freebirds will serve the first 250 customers in line from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Even better, those sneak preview customers will get a great deal. Freebirds is raising money for two community groups, so a $5 donation gets an entree and a drink. On Friday, the donations will go to the Brazos Education Foundation and on Saturday they'll benefit Waco Habitat for Humanity.

Stan Hodges, who coordinates volunteers and outreach for Habitat for Humanity, said that Freebirds has already started its involvement in the community as a group from the restaurant volunteered with Habitat for Humanity last week.

So sneak preview patrons can feel good about getting a good deal. And just so everyone knows, Freebirds will happily accept donations of larger than $5 for Brazos Education Foundation and Habitat for Humanity during these events.
