Austin food trucks road-tripping to Diadeloso

Austin food trucks road-tripping to Diadeloso

For Baylor students, I have a reason to be pumped about Diadeloso on Thursday (as if you need one).

For non Baylor students, I have a reason to crash Diadeloso.

The reason: food trucks.

Today's WacoFork wire news brief came in the form of an email from Dan Marchini of the Baylor Chamber of Commerce, the group that puts on Diadeloso as well as Homecoming and Parents Weekend. Marchini informed me that two food trucks will be making the short drive up from Austin to serve food at the event along with local trucks from Penguin Pete's and Taqueria La Milpa.

The Austin food trucks will be a Japanese burger trailer called Yumé Burger and a pizza trailer called Blue Dog Pizza.

And so, as your trusted restaurant blogger, I made the drive down to Austin to give a proper preview. Actually, I'm not sure if this makes me a great roving reporter or a bad environmentalist as I'm sure my carbon footprint is Shaquille O'Neal-sized.

Really, I just needed a picture for this blog, but I got a lot more than that. Yumé Burger is as scrumptious as it is unique. I met my buddy Brian Patterson at Yumé, which was located in West Austin on Tuesday, and we both ordered the po-ku burger.

We agreed the po-ku, with its pork belly strip on top of an all-beef patty, was impossible to resist. I'm not going to try to oversell this thing. Either stop by the Diadeloso festivities and try one or don't. If you don't, that will just mean one less person in line in front of me.

I'm not sure if Diadeloso is supposed to be an all-comers affair, but I don't think anyone is going to point a finger and sneer at you if you're not a Baylor student but you do want to try one of these food trucks.

I was told that the Baylor parking garages will be open to anyone as no parking tickets will be written in them. Baylor's off school, so that makes sense.

The food trucks will be at Fountain Mall. If you're not a Baylor student and those directions aren't specific enough for you and you can't be bothered to GoogleMap it, perhaps this isn't the kind of adventure you need to embark upon this Thursday.

Again, one less person in front of me in line.
