It's a double blog day because I came across some news this afternoon in Temple.
Word on the street for a while has been that BJ's Brewhouse is planning a Waco location. I even saw someone post that BJ's "announced" it was coming to Waco on Tuesday.
Well, I couldn't find any evidence that BJ's made any such announcement, but I happened to be in the neighborhood of BJ's Brewhouse in Temple, so I went inside and spoke with the management.
According to manager Ron Ziegler, the BJ's Brewhouse company is planning to open a Waco restaurant in the spring of 2012. The Temple restaurant is already helping out by training some of the managerial staff that will be installed in Waco.
As for location, apparently BJ's hasn't signed a lease but is working on a deal that would place the restaurant at the intersection of Waco Drive and Highway 6, near the Richland Mall.
In the meantime, if you want to catch the brewhouse vibe ahead of its arrival in Waco, the location in Temple is right on I-35, making it an easy trip on an idle evening.
