I have to admit I was hesitant about going to the Magnolia Silos for lunch today, but I've been craving Club Sandwich for a couple of weeks, and the silos are their new home base. If I can avoid crowds, I typically do, which is why the silos are last on my list of places to go for lunch. Well, at least the were last on my list until today.
Unless you've been under a rock the past 2 years, you've likely heard of Chip and Joanna Gaines, the owners of Magnolia Homes and stars of HGTV's Fixer Upper, filmed right here in Waco. They recently opened the newly renovated and much anticipated Magnolia Silos in downtown Waco, and the opening has been a huge success. People are traveling to Waco from all over the country just to visit the silos thanks in large part to the success of the show, Fixer Upper. I've heard that the lines to just to get into the silos wrap around the block, and people wait for hours just for the privilege of buying things made of shiplap.
One of the cool things about the silos is the lineup of food trucks they have on the back part of the lot. If you need to take a break from buying farmhouse chic home decor, you can step out in the back lot and hit up any of the seven food trucks parked out back: Club Sandwich, Cheddar Box, Co-Town Crêpes, 900 Degrees Wood Fire Pizza, Luna Juice Bar, Milo Local Provisions, and Common Grounds.
To be honest, I've only been to Club Sandwich and Common Grounds, but I can't wait to try the rest of these places. My hesitation about the silos was completely unfounded. During the week there are no crowds, though I've been told to avoid it on the weekends if you hate crowds. The parking isn't great, but it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. So if you're looking for a great lunch spot with a solid variety of dining choices, the Magnolia Silos are a great option, especially when the weather is as beautiful as it is today.
