Rain or shine: Pints in the Park on tap for Saturday

About six weeks ago, the Chamber of Commerce dialed up Chamber of Commerce weather for the first annual Texas Food Truck Showdown.

It doesn't look like Pints in the Park is going to beneffit from the same type of perfect day. Rest assured, though, the show will go on.

Wondering about the possibilities of thunderstorms, I stopped by The Dancing Bear on Thursday evening to see owner Paxton Dove, one of the event's promoters, to check on contingency plans. I would like to write that I did it for you, WacoFork readers, but the truth is I wanted to know because I'm excited about attending.

Dove told me they have six big tents ready to go no matter the weather. Those will cover both the vendors and the bands — Barelands, Billy Joe Shaver and The Reverend Horton Heat — set to play.

Of course, they'll have their eyes on the skies and adjust accordingly if things get a little too severe. But if the weather echoes that of the last couple of days, everything will be nice and chill and plenty of fun.

An interesting side note, Dove said he checked on all the indoor places in town for possibly fall backs, but they were booked. During that process, he learned that the convention center is mostly booked up until 2017. That's just one more indication that our humble burg is a popular destination these days.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get tickets at the gate to Brazos Park East on Saturday, but if you want to plan ahead, go here for info and a link to tickets.

That's all. Have fun this weekend.
