We've been having fun all summer long

Dear WacoFork friends,

Rather than post a belated Tuesday Trivia blog today or jump right back into restaurant blogging as if I haven't fallen woefully out of that habit this summer, I've decided be frank with you in letter form.

We are as committed as ever to serving Waco with the best restaurant-guide and community lifestyle website that we can produce. That hasn't been readily apparent since the beginning of July. Part of the reason is that it's summer and Cory and I have lives and families that allow us to spend some of the summer doing a lot of the same things that many of you probably enjoy this time of year as well. Another reason is that I've had the extraordinary good fortune to tackle a project that has been a dream of mine to pursue ever since I read Friday Night Lights when I was in middle school. I would like to say that, moving forward, I have a handle on how to balance giving you the level of breaking news and general fun blogging that you've come to expect from our site. That's certainly my goal and there are plans being made to make that a reality. But the truth is I might have to travel for chunks of time during football season and especially next spring and summer. I was in Chicago last week when I was made aware of the new barbecue joint that opened in place of Al Miraj. Since that time, the Trib has beaten us to restaurant stories somewhere between 3 and 50,000 times. While we're happy to find out about new things in the Trib, we also like to be the ones telling you about this. Hopefully that will get back to the way we like it soon.

In case you haven't seen it, here are some of the exciting stories the Trib has covered:

I hope you understand where I'm coming from on all of this. One thing that I've said several times before and I'll reiterate here is that I would love to have more guest bloggers. We would like that to be a consistent function of the site. You know more about what kind of food you like than I do, so send me stuff. I'll figure out where to put the commas and post it.

Anyway, thanks for hanging in there with us.

Your humble servant,

Chad
