After the game, our app steps into the spotlight

Just a quick story today that will serve as both a tip and a look back at the WacoFork adventure.

A little more than a year ago, I placed a call to my friend, Tye, who was working at Baylor and asked him if he intended to go to the Baylor-Kansas basketball game that night. He was going and because he worked for Baylor he could claim two tickets. But he thought his girlfriend might want to go with him. However, fortunately for me, his girlfriend, Katie, yielded her ticket to me. They're married now and I was invited to the wedding, so I'm assuming she was cool about me taking her ticket.

So we went to the basketball game, which Kansas won, 85-65. I looked that up on Baylor's official athletic website as I do not have that kind of memory. But that's not really that important.

What's important, for the purposes of this blog, is that after the game we decided to grab something to eat. At the time, WacoFork was under construction but wouldn't launch for almost three more months. We spoke about how great it would be if we had an iPhone app that would help us figure out where we wanted to eat. We dreamed up the different things the app could do and I'm proud to say our iPhone app, which is available for free download in the Apple App Store, does some of those things. Before long, it will do all of them and more. One step at a time.

The point is, as sixth-ranked Baylor prepares to host seventh-ranked Kansas at 6 p.m. tonight at the Ferrell Center, I'm proud to look back and see that WacoFork has emerged from a plan and a few ideas to something close to what we hoped it would eventually be.

Now for the tip. If you're going to the Baylor basketball game tonight there are two things you need to know. Unless you're cool with having supper at 4 this afternoon, wait until after the game to have dinner. It won't be too awfully late. The game will probably be over about 8:30.

You'll want to be on your way to the Ferrell Center by 5 or just a little after as it will take some time to get in the building. This is a big game and it's sold out.

Then after the game, win or lose, use our app to answer the question "Where you wanna eat?"
