If you've been wondering where I've been lately, just assume that football (and maybe golf) have taken priority. But rest assured that if I come across restaurant news, it will be passed along to you. Like this:
Dichotomy is waiting on its contractors to make final finishes, some of which involve parts arriving in the mail and being installed. When that's done, I'm betting the Dichotomy folks work around the clock to open their doors as quickly as they can.
Co-owner Brett Jameson told me this morning that no firm opening date has been set yet.
My best guess is mid-to-late October. Until then, remember you can get their top-shelf coffee at the Croft Art Gallery location on Austin Ave.
A different kind of Longhorn
The Waco Tribune-Herald reporter on Sunday that Longhorn Steakhouse plans to build a restaurant on Franklin, presumably between the location that has been TGI Friday's and Tokyo and the block that includes Rosa's and Cheddar's.
That's not too far from Outback Steakhouse. So here's the question: how badly do we need a chain steakhouse in this spot? Not too badly. But whatever. I suppose it means that Longhorn is here and Outback will be on the way out soon. That's fine. This kind of change is inevitable.
