The rain is dampening my motivation today.
Don't misread that sentiment. I love the rain. We need a day like this once a month. But it's making me wonder how many of the weekend's festivities either 1) will get canceled, or 2) should get canceled.
Case in point, the Air Review show at Common Grounds scheduled for tonight is off. It will be rescheduled and we'll let you know when that date becomes available.
However, football should be all systems go this weekend. Well, it's all systems go at Waco ISD Stadium and Floyd Casey, the two stadiums where I will land Friday and Saturday. Elsewhere is anybody's guess. If you were planning on going to a high school football game tonight somewhere that still employs real grass on the field, then perhaps you should double check. If it's happening, you should definitely find your rain boots, rain coat and any other article of clothing that makes life easier when everything is wet.
Apparently everything is green lights for the Waco Downtown Farmers Market. I've been told this rain might spill over into Saturday, but if it doesn't the weather is going to be fantastic. Muddy, but fantastic.
Here's my best advice for the weekend. Call ahead and make sure things are still happening and wear clothes that won't be ruined by a little mud.
One more bite: Dang that chili tasted good. Chili is inclement weather comfort food for me. I dig McAlister's chili for simplicity's sake. What local joint makes the best chili?
