Just in time for the holidays, Honeybaked Express has opened in Central Texas Marketplace.
Driving to my favorite morning bagel-and-coffee location, I noticed the sign for the first time and immediately wondered if this was the reincarnation of the Honeybaked Ham store that formerly operated from the Valley Mills Drive shopping center anchored by Fuddruckers and Carino's. While manager Chirsty Ortiz said she worked for many years at Honeybaked Ham, Honeybaked Express is a new store with its base and ownership in Fort Worth.
It's the same idea though. It's a place to solve your turkey and ham and sides needs.
Ortiz said Honeybaked Express initially opened just prior to Thanksgiving, then closed for a while and reopened on Friday. The store will stay open through the end of the year, then open again for a stretch around Easter. The decision on whether Honeybaked Express will continue to be a seasonal store or open year-around has yet to be made.
If the owners opt for the year-around model, Honeybaked Express will offer box lunches and the like. For now, they're focusing on holiday hams, turkeys and sides. They will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and they're closed on Sunday. On Christmas Eve, they will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Just in case you're interested in stopping by and don't want to wander around Central Texas Marketplace looking for it, Honeybaked Express is a couple of doors down from Panda Express in the section facing Loop 340, between Panera and Starbucks.
One more bite: The 12 Days of Christmas Carols Day 10 blog is on its way this afternoon. We will give a heads up 15 minutes ahead of time on Twitter.
