Need a Thanksgiving Dinner plan? We've got an idea

Duing the holidays, we get some queries asking our advice about where people meeting in Waco should dine or, in general, restaurants that are going to be open on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

I've learned to check with hotels that have nice restaurants. Chances are they will have guests and therefore open restaurants and even special meals. Beyond that, look to the joints that seem to never close (IHOP, Denny's, etc.).

But here's something interesting that we just learned about this week. Cafe Homestead is offering complete holiday meals to go.

The holiday meal to go menu includes some choices. Patrons can choose between roasted turkey and deep-fried Cajun turkey with the free-range turkey coming from B&B Poultry. Then pick between two sides and choose your salad and dressing and all meals come with Artisan Ovens dinner rolls.

This looks like a great deal, especially if you're hosting a larger gathering. The cost of the dinner to-go is $199.99 for 12 people for the roasted turkey dinner or $224.99 for the deep-fried Cajun turkey dinner. They're also providing it for quantities of four people ($154.99 or $164.50) and eight people ($186.99 or $209.99).

To order a dinner or for more information, call (254) 754-9604. Dinners will be available for pickup on Nov. 21 between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The deadline to order a dinner is Saturday at 6 p.m.

One more bite: Crav at Gourmet Gallery is always a great place to go to augment your holiday meal preparations. Not only can you get great meals, sides or desserts to go, they have classes that can give you great holiday ideas like Saturday's class teaching easy appetizers for your holiday gathering, which will go from noon to 2 p.m. at Gourmet Gallery.
