We did brunch about as well as it could be done on a Monday at the new restaurant The Egg and I, which opened on Monday.
I guess, ideally, brunch is a meal best served on a lazy and perhaps even groggy Saturday or Sunday. Monday brunch is the territory of the food or restaurant blogger. So I had Eggs Benedict in order to properly engage with The Egg and I for the first time.
The Egg and I has a whole section of the menu dedicated to Benedict dishes. That's where they take English muffins, ham and Hollandaise sauce and put them in diffeent combinations. Like the Veggie Benedict or the Philly Benedict.
I will be back to branch out to other Benedicts as well as other portions of the menu. The breakfast chile relleno almost tempted me away from Eggs Benedict this morning.
Also worth noting, The Egg and I features flavored coffees. Not the plethora of flavors of places like Cafe Brazil in Dallas, but a little variety.
I know this blog is going to make everyone rush over to The Egg and I, but please note that it's going to be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. So if you're reading this after lunchtime, you'll have to wait until tomorrow to try it.
