One of my favorite phrases is "the word on the street is ..."
It implies a pretty high level of being in the know as well as being sort of urban-cool and mysterious at the same time. I have a good example today. The word on the street is that Which Wich is going into the Bosque retail strip that currently features Starbucks and GameStop.
Actually, I have a pretty good source on this from the WacoFork wire. Good enough that I felt confident that when I meandered over to the supposed new Which Wich location, I felt confident I would find people remodeling the former Daylight Donuts.
Sure enough, a couple of guys were looking over something that might have been construction plans.
Ace investigative reporter that I am, I stood in the doorway and inquired "Y'all building a Which Wich?"
They both looked at me. One nodded and the other said "Yeah."
So there you have it. I'll work on providing more expository information like how soon we can expect a Bosque Boulevard Which Wich. But just in case you're keeping score, we now have a BJ's Brewhouse with a Freebirds, Quaker Steak & Lube and Which Wich for sure on the way, plus rumors of SmashBurger and perhaps more to come.
