The new sushi/Korean food restaurant called Wako Roll opened for business today at Central Texas Marketplace.
So naturally, a WacoFork crew descended upon it. There were five of us and I like to think we gave the menu a pretty good test, ordering items ranging from your basic sushi to bulgogi and the hot pot dish called bibimbap.
I personally took a shot at bulgogi jeongsik, thinking I have eaten bulgogi before and have learned to find my way around the more esoteric Asian dishes. Well, maybe not. I didn't realize the dish was intended to be made into lettuce wraps and I am not a big fan of lettuce as I find that it mainly gets in the way a lot of the time. So I didn't eat my bulgogi jeongsik correctly, which made me feel like a bit of a failure even though all of the food was tasty.
Thankfully, I also ordered a spicy California roll for the entire table to enjoy, though I think I consumed half of it myself.
In that sense, I suppose I have advice to offer when dining at Wako Roll — ease in with the sushi and venture out from there. Our table's consensus was that the sushi, including the ruby roll featured in the photo with this blog, was fantastic.
Anyway, check it out for yourself and maybe write a review. I predict the first review of Wako Roll will hit the WacoFork big board before Friday.
