It's tax day, I guess.
Actually, apparently taxes aren't late as long as they are mailed by tomorrow. This is what I'm hearing and choosing to trust.
Nevertheless, I think tax day is a day when everyone deserves to treat themselves to a cupcake. I had a chocolate one (pictured) at The Olive Branch. I'm not saying tax day is stressful for everyone because I'm sure there are a lot of people who are fastidious and don't even think about it.
What I'm saying, though, is that tax day is like a National Stress Day sort of anti-holiday. Even if it's not particularly stressful, it's still ok to say "It's tax day and therefore I'm going to have a cupcake if for no other reason than to honor the fact that some people might be stressed today."
So go have a cupcake.
If you're still here and interested, I'm going to throw out a couple of bonus things in this blog that I considered blogging about today but just couldn't turn into a whole blog (thus the cupcake bail out).
The WacoFork wire informed me over the weekend that Diamond Backs is now featuring grass-fed beef items. I have to give this a try. I heard the ribeye was excellent.
And sort of related to that, Cràv will be featuring a farm-to-table cooking class on Thursday. Chef Juanita Barrientos told me today that the class is completely booked. But I thought you would still like to know about it. She bought all the ingredients for the event at the Waco Downtown Farmers Market on Saturday and said the farmers market was buzzing. Glad to hear that thing is going well because it's a cool thing for us to have.
And one more farm-to-table note, don't forget the next Cafe Homestead farm-to-table dinner is coming up on April 28. Click here for all the information.
That's really all I've got today. Seriously, go have a cupcake.
