We've got good news for all the Raising Cane's fans in Hewitt. The new location that at the spot once occupied by Burger King will be opening this Thursday, June 25. As part of the grand opening, they are offering giveaways to some lucky customers. The first 10 paying customers age 13 or older will get free Cane's for a year. WACO, TX (June 23, 2015) – The people of Waco have spoken: They want more Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers!
The popular Louisiana-based chain known for its ONE LOVE® – quality chicken finger meals – will continue its Texas takeover when it opens its second restaurant in Waco this week.
Raising Cane’s latest grand opening celebration is set for Thursday, June 25. The new restaurant, located at 1501 Hewitt Drive, across from Midway High School, marks the company’s 73rd location in the state of Texas and the 225th in the nation.
Grand opening festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony courtesy of the Waco and Hewitt Chambers of Commerce. First-time visitors will be treated to traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the location in unique Cane’s fashion, compliments of its 45-50 newly hired crew members. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m.
To add to the opening day excitement, the first 10 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive Free Cane’s for a Year! In addition, the first 100 paying, dine-in customersages 13 and older will receive a free Cane’s Waco T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.
“We opened our first Waco restaurant on Franklin Avenue in 2010, and I’ve been looking forward to opening our second location ever since!” said Mark Strouse, managing partner of the local Raising Cane’s. “My crew members and I can’t wait to start serving up our ONE LOVE on Hewitt, because we know this area is full of Caniacs. And just as important, we’re all really excited about pitching in even more around the local community, supporting the schools and other non-profits that are such an integral part of Waco.”
During Thursday’s grand opening, Mark will present a $1,000 check to the Midway ISD on behalf of Raising Cane’s. He has served on the ISD’s education board in the past, his wife teaches in the district and his children attend school there.
“As you might imagine, my family and I are big believers in the Midway ISD, and I’m so pleased that RaisingCane’s gives us this platform to support our awesome local schools,” Mark said.
From June 25 - July 1, customers of the newest Waco restaurant will also be invited to participate in the company’s “Give Back Giveaway” tradition, in which one lucky customer will win a $1,000 donation tohis or her local charity of choice, along with Free Cane’s for a Year.

Hours of operation at the Hewitt Drive restaurant are Sunday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.
