Does this sound good? Would you like a pork-and-veal bratwurst with an Austin Beerworks Fire Eagle IPA glaze on a pretzel roll bun?
Word on the street is that will be the Whole Foods food truck offering at the Texas Food Truck Showdown later this month.
Actually, Ashley Futris from the Greater Waco Chamber passed that item along to me, so it's more official than "word on the street," but since we're in the realm of the food truck, I thought "word on the street" sounded better.
We have fresh details about the huge food truck event coming to downtown March 28. We previously told you about it in this blog and now we've filled in some important blanks. The event will be held at Heritage Square between 3rd and 4th Streets and Washington Ave and Austin Ave (detailed in the art with this blog). Also, the Texas Food Truck Showdown has maxed out at 35 food-truck commitments and even has a short waiting list.
Futris further explained the "challenge" portion of the event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each food truck will present their competition offering during that time. It's going to be an item of around four ounces in size, which will allow us judges the opportunity to try, I'm guessing, between six and 20 offerings before we reach food coma. The entrees will be able to be purchased with a food ticket, which will sell for $3 each.
Along with telling me about the Whole Foods truck, Futris told me there's a truck called Top O Hill coming from Oregon to serve salmon and biscuits and gravy.
While obtaining info, we secured 100 tickets that we will be giving away on the day of the event and leading up to it, so stay tuned. We'll also be posted up with a booth at the event.
