I noticed new signage while I was out and about at True Love on Friday evening. Sascee's has taken over the space formerly occupied by Al Miraj and Old Fashion BBQ.
So on Tuesday, I stopped by Sascee's to find out more. Turns out they're closed on Monday and Tuesday but owner Marcia Neal greeted me at the door and gave us the spill on the new restaurant.
Sascee's Home Cooked Southern Style Food serves chicken, beef and pork, buffet style at lunch most days. It breaks down like this: buffet-style at lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and all day Sunday; no buffet at dinner time Wednesday to Friday and all-day Saturday, so patrons can order off the menu, which also includes catfish, salmon and tilapia.
The menu and buffet also feature a variety of Southern-style vegetables like collard greens, fried and stewed okra, grits and mac-n-cheese.
Neal pointed out one difference between her restaurant and an all-you-can-eat. When the buffet is up and running, it's $7.99 for one meat, $8.99 for two meats and $9.99 for three meats. And I think it's all the vegetables you want.
We're going to have to go when this place is open to further elucidate (and get in front of some fried chicken).
