Hmmm, dozens of food trucks in downtown Waco, catering to a variety of tastes of foodies from all over the state.
That's a good idea.
I was bumping around social media on Wednesday when I saw the Texas Food Truck Showdown. It was posted by someone in Waco, so I was hopeful, but my reaction was still "Please be in Waco!"
Sure enough.
Apparently this is something being launched by the Greater Waco Chamber. I don't have a lot of info on it yet. This is just a blog to say that we're aware of it and we intend to be all over it as we think it will be a hit.
BTW, if you have a food truck and you want to know more or to sign up, go here.
Among the bullet points on the initial posting that caught my interst were that 1) it will be free to the public, 2) the food trucks will be invited to make their signature dishes and attendees can buy tickets in order to be part of the voting and 3) there will be a $2,500 grand prize for the showdown champion (along with $500 prizes for other categories).
The showdown will be held March 28 in downtown (I'll get a more specific location as it gets closer) and the voting portion of the event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Celebrity judging will take place from 2 to 4 and then the food trucks will roll out their entire menus beginning at 4. Then the winner will be announced at 5.
All of that will be followed by a movie at sunset. Again, more details on this when we follow up.
