The new Coach's downtown is taking care to outfit its space, remodeling the exterior and interior to put its stamp on the location that has had a couple of identities already.
Last time I blogged about Coach's, I forgot that the location was at one time called Square Bar. If I remember correctly, The Olive Branch and Square Bar shared the location. Then it became Sam's on the Square.
Anyway, now it will be a sit-down barbecue restaurant. I barged in and looked around today. The new color scheme works well and they've put in a whole bunch of barbecue-and-sports-related decorations. Co-owner Gary Zacharias was hard at work putting in the new bar and in general getting the place closer to opening.
Zacharias said he's been asked constantly when Coach's downtown will open. His best guess at the moment is late February. We'll keep you posted.
