We've been given the heads up that Fuego Tortilla Grill is scheduled to open its Woodway location right at the start of 2015.
Fuego, which will eventually have locations in Woodway across Highway 84 from H-E-B AND near Baylor on the east side of Interstate-35, features street tacos and all that implies.
The Woodway Fuego is set to open to the public on the morning of Jan. 5 and once it opens, it's open. I just learned Fuego is a 24-7 joint, so that's exciting for the Woodway-Hewitt late-night crowd. For all of you who have lamented having no Taco Cabana in Hewitt, I believe you just one-upped everybody. (btw, the Baylor Fuego location is planning a summer opening.)
And here's another tasty tidbit from my email conversation with Fuego rep Gracie Bower:
"We are a scratch kitchen, we make everything," Bower said. "We have all slow-cooked meats, rotisserie chicken, hand-made flour & corn tortillas."
It also mentioned house-made salsas on the Fuego bar.
I haven't been to Fuego, but this is promising. Fuego is currently located only in College Station and San Marcos. I have an appointment in San Marcos next week, so I smell a preview.
