I'm not sure the anticipation of Manny's on the River has quite kept pace with just how cool this new restaurant might be.
I stopped by Manny's on Tuesday morning to check on its possible opening date and spoke with Manny's rep Mike Anderson. He said the restaurant is hosting a private event on Sunday evening and then swinging open the doors to the public on Monday.
I also learned that this will be just the third restaurant opened by the Manny's group and the first one outside of Dallas. That's a huge deal because Manny's Uptown was chosen by no less a credible source than the Dallas Observer as the best Tex-Mex joint in Dallas in 2013. Manny's is sending the same chefs and kitchen staff that earned that award to launch the new restaurant here.
Manny's is located on Martin Luther King Blvd in the building that formerly housed Lake Brazos Steakhouse.
It's taken a while for Manny's to set up shop on MLK because of the amount of construction that went into making it Manny's. It should be worth the wait, though, as the restaurant built a huge deck and docks that will make it a prime party location. There's plenty of room for boats to attach to the pier, so Manny's will be a hot spot for river-intenstive fun times.
They've even gone a step farther to make it a hang out for your dog too. There's a dog park along the west side of the restaurant. You don't even have to dine to take your good puppy dog for a night out and you can sip on a cold beer from the outside bar while your dog sniffs other dogs' butts.
Stay tuned as we'll have an update on the full Manny's experience sometime next week. Go here to get get a feel for the Manny's Uptown menu.
