Firehouse subs will open this week.
I just spoke with Firehouse representatives Junior Chambliss and Mike McCown and they told me the restaurant will be open to the public beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Before then, Firehouse will be going through some pre-opening drills, making sandwiches for local firemen, etc.
Firehouse was founded by firemen, which you can read about here. Chambliss and McCown were especially excited to share with me the different ways in which the company engaged with firemen in the communities of its stores as well as responding to the needs of first-responders around the country where duty calls.
You can read more about Firehouse's philanthropic efforts here.
As for the sandwiches they offer, my previous trips to Firehouse have been satisfying to the point of decadence. Because of that, I was reticent to get excited about this new place as it's difficult for me these days to down a juicy sub sandwich if I want to continue to be a productive person that day. However, my stop by the restaurant this morning revealed that Firehouse has a lighter menu featuring sandwiches around 500 calories along with an assortment of salads.
Seems like a win-win to me.
