The new Kim's on Waco Drive will hold its grand opening Saturday afternoon, swinging the doors ajar at 4 p.m.
I just spoke with Woody and Darla Page, who have poured a lost of elbow grease and money into renovating Kim's. They were a mix of excitement, nervousness and determination after holding a soft opening on Thursday evening. They seemed hell-bent on getting the kinks straightened out.
It seems to me that this might not be the friendliest place to work if you have a tendency to half-ass things. But I bet it's going to be a good experience for diners. (btw, if you're a short-order cook or a waitress with a no-nonsense attitude, you might want to stop by and pick up an application).
Kim's won't be serving breakfast tomorrow, but they'll be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner beginning on Monday. This won't be a Sunday after-church joint as they're going to close on Sundays. Woody told me he's going to make sure the place gets a thorough cleaning every Sunday.
