We hit up the Club Sandwich opening party on Saturday night at Dichotomy.
Club Sandwich is the continuation of a concept proprietor Youngdae Moon had in a downtown community center a couple of years ago. When the community center changed direction in terms of offering a restaurant, Moon regrouped and began planning to relaunch in food-truck form.
It took some time, but it appears it was worth the wait. The Club Sandwich truck looks great and the food brought out a big crowd for the opening at Dichotomy. Plenty of Waco movers and shakers were out for free samples and drinks, all dressed up in their swanky digs. I chomped down on some free pork banh mi.
On Monday, Club Sandwich was serving food back at its spot outside Dichotomy, alongside the Sergio's truck. So there's your first unofficial Waco food truck park.
We advise trying out this one. Actually, we advise giving any of the food trucks a shot, but we've sampled this and liked it.
WiseGuys getting punchy
WiseGuys is claiming that its restaurant has been swiped out from under the original owners. We're not taking sides here. This is the statement WiseGuys posted on Facebook. Please understand that our linking to the statement is not an indication that we believe or don't believe it's a valid claim.
UPDATE: A drive past the shopping center in question revealed that the location formerly known as WiseGuys is now Tony's Chicago Grill.
Manny more enchiladas
Manny's Uptown Tex-Mex Restaurant will be moving into the former Lake Brazos Steakhouse location, the Waco Tribune-Herlad reported over the weekend.
There are several interesting things in Stephanie Butts' story, including plans for Manny's to open in August in time for the first football weekend at McLane Stadium and a new deck over the Brazos River.
We'll have more on this soon.
