The recent revelation that one Denny's has closed and another opened didn't register too high on our Waco-restaurant Richter scale.
I am wondering if the La Quinta between Common Grounds and Clay Pot will have to change it's name since it's no longer "By a Denny's."
However, it did raise one question to which I obtained an answer on Tuesday. I've heard the restaurants along the Interstate 35 north-bound access road will soon be forced to relocate because of highway expansion.
So is the Denny's closing the starting gun for that process?
Apparently not. Clay Pot owner Phong Le said highway expansion is a reality in his restaurant's long-term plans, but he hasn't been given notice or a date when it will happen.
Le said he doesn't expect a heads up that it's go time until the end of this year at the earliest and probably not until 2015.
We'll of course keep our eyes and ears open on this one. The Pizza Hut between Denny's and Common Grounds is of particular interest.

According to WacoFork intern Dustin Payne, Longhorn Steakhouse is hiring with the intent of training and opening by early March.
Payne also found an ad looking for BJ's Brewhouse delivery drivers, an indication that you'll perhaps soon be able to get a Pizzookie without leaving the couch.
One more bite: Friday is Valentine's Day. That's where people express romantic love by exchanging cards and flowers and candy and dining in nicer-than-usual restaurants. It's probably not too late to make reservations.
