Last week I told you about speculation I've been hearing about Central Texas Marketplace. I had a couple of indirect sources suggesting a Twin Peaks and a Chick-fil-A were going in the Cabela's/Don Carlos sector of the massive Waco shopping center.
I have an update as I caught up with local Chick-fil-Ahuman resources director Paul Day at the Richland Mall location. He said nothing has been signed on a new Chick-fil-A location. The fast-food-chicken chain is aggressively seeking a third Waco location, but Day wasn't even sure if the Central Texas Marketplace location was a candidate.
Day said Chick-fil-A has been considering a third Waco location for years and is getting close to taking the next step. We discussed how the Franklin location is efficient and popular but also a little over run at times.
As for the Waco Twin Peaks, after we posted the article last week we were pointed in the direction of the restaurant's "Coming Soon to Waco" Facebook page. And then I noticed today that the lot in question next to Don Carlos has progressed from demarcation to full-on dirt work.
One more bite: While Day and I were talking, he mentioned that the Chick-fil-A on Franklin will be 15 years old this year. That freaked me out a little. I still think of it as the new freestanding Chick-fil-A.
