With the new H-E-B set to open on Friday, we received an interesting tip from the WacoFork wire that the new H-E-B could include a Flaming Bird restaurant.
I stopped by today and confirmed that there is a Flaming Bird, which according to an online menu serves rotisserie chicken by the piece or by the whole bird. Interestingly, they also offer pizza by the slice and by the whole pizza. Even more interesting, the pizza choices include chicken artichoke.
Another eye-catching part of the tip we received involved the availability of Texas draft beer on tap at the Flaming Chicken. This feature is also advertised on the H-E-B website for the San Marcos store. However, I asked the person who was politely insisting that I not come in the store today if the Flaming Chicken was going to include beer on tap. She said no, but her primary objective at the time was for me to leave.
I'll update this story tomorrow as I intent to venture into the new store, which I expect to be insanely crowded for a grocery store as their seems to be a high level of excitement about it. Along with the Flaming Bird, I'll peruse the beer and wine as well and offer a rundown.
