Last week, I made a list of new things coming to our town that have my attention. I left something off the list because I was unsure of its status.
The Lone Mammoth was that thing. I'm relieved to tell you it's still on the way.
The Lone Mammoth is the upscale franks and sausages joint in the works for Speight and 14th Street. They crowd sourced the style of restaurant and we chose sausages. But part of their project includes leveling the building currently standing on the property. As the months have gone by and that building is still standing, I began to wonder what was the deal. Lots of you asked me about it, so I efforted it.
Proprietor Chelsea Harris emailed me this week to tell me everything is still a go there. As happens with many construction projects, it's going a bit slower than they hoped, but it's happening.
"We won't have it done by the end of the year, as we originally hoped," Harris said. "But we'll just take it as it comes and continue to truck along. We are still very excited and are thankful for the community's support thus far!"
They're expecting the building to be demolished any day now. After that, we'll probably see more tangible progress.
