In February we told you that In-N-Out is looking to expand its Texas operation south of Dallas-Fort Worth and that Waco was in their plans. That little bit of news seemed to excite people, so of course we're going to stay on this story.
In the last four months, things seemed to have inched forward. I emailed my source at In-N-Out this week because I was starting to hear more rumors and more of you have been asking about In-N-Out. I got an answer within the afternoon. It's sort of like watching a download on your computer when you sit there and think "did it just move forward, I think it did."
To the point, my source told me that In-N-Out is "definitely looking there but it would be very premature for me to comment on a specific location." Construction on In-N-Out's Austin locations has begun and it's apparent that if the company is sending trucks to Austin, it intends to stop at stores in Waco along the way.
In case you're wondering about the Austin locations, one of them will be "very close by" IKEA.
One more bite: This is just me spewing predictions, so don't think I have any kind of official word on this. But I'm predicting that there will be an In-N-Out in Waco before the Baylor Bears play their first football game in the new stadium.
