There's a new donut joint coming to New Road.
Donut Hole has a sign and a temporary sign announcing "donuts coming soon." There's also promise of biscuits, croissants, kolaches and coffee. It's located in the little strip center directly across the street from the V.A. Hospital.
I've efforted more information on this, but for now this is just about all I have. Looking in the window revealed that they have a menu and cases in place. As soon as I have an opening day, I'll pass it along.
Stripes and tacos coming to busy corner
The question came up last week about the construction happening at the corner of New Road and Bagby.
In a quick chain reaction, a friend asked me if there was a taco place going there, which made me think The Rusty Taco had found a home. But a drive by revealed that something called Stripes was announcing its presence there. The next day, I heard another rumor that Stripes is gearing up to put several stores in Waco and throughout Texas.
Here's what I know for sure. Stripes will be at New Road and Bagby and it will include the convenience store's restaurant: Laredo Taco Company.
Another thing I heard was that Stripes is a convenience store chain out of Corpus Christi. Searching for locations in Texas on the Stripes website, I got nothing until I typed in Corpush Christi and then there were a ton of them.
On a personal level, I'm looking forward to having a good gas station/store/taco stand on this corner as it's one that I drive past very often.
