I have to admit that I've been sitting at basketball games the last couple of weeks unable to resist checking out the Cooking Channel TV College Eats Bracket Battle. It's pretty exciting to see our Vitek's Gut Pak knocking off food dishes from around the country.
In case you're just catching up, in the first round the Gut Pak dominated the N.C. State Mimi's Sausage Dip, then the Gut Pak held off the Duke Greek Devil Gyro in the Sweet 16.
Over the weekend, the Gut Pak raced to a commanding multiple-thousand-vote lead over the Illinois Stuffed Pizza. The stuffed pizza made a charge at the end, but the Gut Pak, with 6,082 votes, won by a slim 430, which was a little more than 3 percent over Illinois. The good news is that the Gut Pak vs. Stuffed Pizza matchup garnered more votes than any of the other 3 Elite 8 polls.
Now we're in the Final Four. And I feel like I can say "we" because it's up to all of us to show our Waco pride and push Vitek's to a victory. As I type this, the Gut Pak has 1,759 votes since the poll opened this morning and leads the Montana Griz Breakfast Burrito by almost 500 votes.
So you've read enough of this blog now. Click here and vote for the Gut Pak.
Getting to the Final Four is a big deal. But, of course, we want to win. Right? It's up to us. Spread the word.
One more bite: I'm attempting to find out the larger consequences of this College Eats Bracket Battle. I can't tell from the website if there is any sort of grand prize. But there should be. The Cooking Channel should do a show on all of the Final Four participants. But we'll see. And we'll let you know when we find out.
