Fans of Peter Piper Pizza and those looking forward to the new location will have to wait a few more days. A stop by this morning, with the understanding that today was the grand opening of the New Road Peter Piper, revealed construction crews still working.
Inside a manager told me it will be next week before the new family pizza joint is ready to go.
That stated, we're up for doing some sort of blog coverage of the opening, but we need some volunteers. Anyone up for a Peter Piper Pizza trip? I don't think I ever dined at the former location at Waco Drive and Valley Mills, which is now closed by the way. But I'm willing to see if this new deal is appealing, especially for those in WacoFork land with kids or who are themselves kids at heart.
But what is happening?
There is plenty to do elsewhere, including music and art, etc. Here's a quick list (which will be updated if we hear about things to add):
- The Croft Art Gallery is hosting an opening tonight from 6-9. It will feature the art of Erica Wickett and her show "Visualizing the Unspoken," along with special music by Ryan Pickop.
- Jillian Edwards and Caleb Chapman will play at Common Grounds Saturday night with openers Air Review and Lonely Hunter. Doors open at 6.
- O, Loveland will have a CD release show at Common Grounds on Sunday night, doors at 7.
And ...
Bring on the Madness
This really has nothing to do with restaurants, but I just wanted to point out that it's March and that means everyone's focus should shift to college hoops. We will once again be holding a March Madness contest, so stay tuned for details on that.
But, there is a crucial college basketball game in our town tomorrow. The Baylor Bears have had an up-and-down season: easily beating average teams on the upside but losing most of the games they've played against legit tournament contenders. Conventional wisdom suggests that Baylor's current résumé isn't good enough to get into the tournament (unless by "the tournament" you mean the NIT, which I don't), but that could change drastically if the Bears can defeat 13th-ranked Kansas State on Saturday evening in the Ferrell Center.
To that end, Baylor is giving away new versions of the popular neon T-shirts to everyone in attendance.
