Terrance Ganaway is one of four running backs on the St. Louis Rams depth chart, he was a vital member of the Baylor Bears' 2011 Alamo Bowl champion football team, and his newest team is the sandwich-making crew at the downtown Jimmy John's.
I was driving around, running Friday-afternoon errands and listening to the Dallas sports radio greatness of The Hardline when the guys on that show were talking about this story. I dropped what I was doing and rushed over to Jimmy John's in order to confirm this, which I was able to do with the manager on duty.
When I got home, I found a newspaper article that ran Thursday in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. In it, Ganaway says he joke Tweeted that he was looking for a job to help pass the off-season and Jimmy John's hooked him up.
So we may not have a NFL club here in Waco, yet. But you can have an NFL player make your Hunter's Club.
One more bite: A little more on the reveal of this story. I recently became an addict of the I Heart Radio iPhone app, which allows me to listen to The Ticket in Dallas, my favorite radio station on the planet. I initially heard them discussing what somebody was doing these days and one of the hosts guessed that he was curating the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. My ears perked up as I wondered if they were talking about someone in Waco. Then my app cut out as it had to buffer. Then it came back on and the host said something about making sandwiches on 4th Street in downtown Waco. And then the app cut out again and I began freaking out. "Who?" I screamed within the confines of my car. It was one of those instances of technology enlightening me and then almost killing me at the same time. But I learned the info I needed to learn and it made my afternoon a little more exciting. ... And we hope to have more on this unique story for you, assuming Ganaway is down with it.
