Downtown continues to up its game. To that end, pretty soon one Franklin building will include door-to-door-to-door nightlife options.
I spoke with True Love owner Jacqulyn Blair, whom I bumped into in Austin on Thursday night, and she told me they're set to relocate in the space formerly occupied by Nelson's. So that building will include Barnett's Pub, Al Miraj Mediterranean Grill and Hookah Bar and True Love.
A stop by on Friday afternoon revealed that True Love's sign notifying everyone that they plan to sell alcohol is posted. And a peek in the window told me they might be able to turn that thing around pretty quickly. Blair said they were hoping to be open in a couple of weeks.
She also stressed that the vibe inside True Love will remain much the same as it was when it was located on Lake Shore Drive. I attended True Love on several occasions to hear live music and found it to be a relaxed and friendly place with chilled out decor.
So that's why I imagine it will be pretty easy to get this new place into that groove.
Not a restaurant, but we still have an opinion
KWTX reported Thursday that Cabela's has announced plans to open a Cabela's Outpost store in Central Texas Marketplace.
This has the excitement meter of the hunter/Duck Dynasty enthusiast tweaking in the red. That's all good and well, especially as it's one more notch in retail credibility for our town. Though it's not a restaurant, so it doesn't concern us too much.
However, I will say that when i first heard this news, I was hoping it would appear in a place that would bring about new restaurants around it, much like Aldi has. But Central Texas Marketplace is already pretty well populated with restaurants, so we'll see.
And there's this ...
I noticed Peter Piper Pizza signage on the new building on New Road next door to Wal-Mart is up and, I have to say, pretty glorious. When I first noticed it, I started to get excited before I realized it's a kid's pizza place.
Nothing against it. The kids need a place of their own too. And I know from experience that if parents can find a place to let the toddlers run around with virtual free rein, then a lot of people are happy.
That stated, I probably won't eat there much. Also, there hasn't been a whole lot of clamoring from WacoFork land for Peter Piper Pizza updates. But just to keep us up to date, the Waco Tribune-Herald reported a while back that Peter Piper plans to open its new joint this month.
